About Manny
Emmanuel “Manny” Vouniozos is a masterful Director of Photography and visual storyteller whose artistry spans feature films, commercials, music videos, television, and beyond. With over three decades of experience behind the camera, Manny’s signature style—what he calls “Art in Motion”—brings emotional nuance and cinematic depth to every frame he captures.
Having honed his craft in Los Angeles, Manny apprenticed under legendary cinematographers including Freddie Young, Vilmos Zsigmond, and Jack Swain. His early work in camera and grip departments on major Hollywood productions such as Armageddon, Crimson Tide, Twister, and Pleasantville laid a solid foundation of technical expertise and creative finesse.
As a distinguished Director of Photography, Manny’s film credits include The Competition, The Christmas Trap, Monday at 11:01 A.M., and the acclaimed feature A Play on Words. His visual approach in Monday at 11:01 A.M.—especially the use of a bright blue filter to evoke psychological tension—has been widely praised.
Beyond narrative film, Manny has photographed Olympic icons like Michelle Kwan, Shani Davis, and Apolo Ohno in more than 40 Olympic campaigns, showcasing his versatility and athletic visual sensibilities. His global work extends across the U.S., Canada, Greece, South Africa, Thailand, Italy, Iceland, and beyond.
Manny’s work is rooted in empathy and observation. Whether he’s capturing a swimmer’s focused stride or the delicate moment of a bee struggling near water, his images reveal both grandeur and the small wonders of life—always grounded in humanity.
Now based in Southern California, Manny continues to create, mentor, and collaborate across industries, always guided by gratitude, integrity, and an unending curiosity for visual storytelling. On BookVid, Manny offers personalized video greetings, one-on-one sessions, and creative consultations for those interested in learning the craft, exploring the art of cinematography, or connecting with a true visual artist.
